How to Complete a 'Bill of Transfer' Document Using the Template
The Bill of Transfer allows you to transfer your assets to yourself as the Primary Trustee of your Living Trust while you are still living. Here’s how to fill out or modify the template for your specific situation:
- Print or Edit: You cannot fill out the document digitally on the website, but you can print or download the template to edit it using a PDF editor.
- "Your Name": Enter the name(s) of the owner(s) of the items.
- "Trustee Name": Enter the name(s) of the trustee(s), which is typically you as the Primary Trustee of your Trust while you are living.
- "Trust Name": Enter the name of your Trust to indicate the transfer of property to it.
- Signature: While this is optional, it is recommended for thoroughness.
Considerations for Joint Ownership with a Spouse
If you have a joint Trust, you can customize the Bill of Transfer to include both your name and your spouse’s name in the "Your Name" and "Trustee Name" fields if the property is jointly owned. Alternatively, you can print two copies of the Bill of Transfer and have each spouse fill out and sign their own document.
